Once a beloved fine-dining landmark known simply as The Silo, this hillside property has long been a gathering place for locals and travelers alike. After a fire closed its doors in 2021, we felt called to preserve its legacy — not by recreating the restaurant, but by creating something new: a quiet, soulful retreat built on the same land, with the same spirit of connection.

Today, The Silo Retreat offers a cozy, nature-rich escape for weekend guests, small celebrations, and meaningful group experiences. Whether you're here for a family reunion, a book club getaway, or a team offsite, you’ll find more than just cabins and trails — you’ll feel the presence of decades of stories, care, and community in every corner.

We had a late arrival for a one night stopover on the way to New York from Toronto. The place was perfect. We didn't meet John and Judy till the next morning. Great hosts. It's definitely a future spot for our stopovers to break up the drive.

Judy and her husband were great hosts. Quaint little cabin in the wood was just what I needed for the weekend get away trip - Nice little fire pit, with plenty of wood. Comfortable bed, and very quiet at night!

Judy and John were perfect hosts! They recommended local food and were extremely generous throughout our stay. We had a fantastic time at the Silo Retreat. The area was gorgeous and very well maintained. It was scenic and private which was perfect for us. The Carriage House was beautiful and very modern. Our room was spacious and comfortable to stay in with 2 small children. The common area was very well stocked and cozy. We didn't get a chance to use the fire pit however it's a great addition to the atmosphere of the property. Overall great experience and we plan to come back whenever we vist Chenango Valley State Park!

Absolutely. Whether you need a caterer for a corporate retreat, a local band for an evening gathering, or fresh flowers for a celebration, we can connect you with trusted local partners. We keep a list of nearby bakeries, restaurants, farms, and artisans — and we love making introductions!

Do you offer on-site food?

While we don’t run a restaurant, we love connecting guests with local flavor. J&H Express in Coventry delivers everything from deli sandwiches to burgers to full dinner meals. We can arrange pastries from Erica’s Cakery,  recommend nearby farm-to-table dining, or help you coordinate catering for your event. The Carriage House also includes a shared kitchen.
